    Background Tyrosine-Protein Phosphatase Non-Receptor Type 1 (PTPN1) is an enzyme containing 1 tyrosine-protein phosphatase domain. PTPN1 belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, member of which catalyze the hydrolysis of the phosphate monoesters specifically on tyrosine residues. PTPs were isolated and identified based on their enzymatic activity and amino acid sequence. PTPN1 can dephosphorylate the phosphotyrosine residues of the activated insulin receptor kinase. It acts as a regulator of endoplasmic reticulum unfolded protein response and regulates the EFNA5-EPHA3 signaling pathway. PTPN1 is implicated in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation, cell responses to cytokines and hormones, and malignancy transformation.
